The traveler watches in silence as the Kokiri takes both offerings from his hands. He lets go of the blade easily, but when the ring is touched, his fingers involuntarily twitch a little.
Parting. Even if something is never made to be owned, it is always hard to let go of one’s own creation.
Even so, the traveler keeps its plain face. He turns around as soon as both of the things leave his hand, heading to the corner where his own sword is hidden.
“That may be the best way, Lou”, he says, starting to bend down to reach his sword, “I do not know what to do with other’s possession”.
And as he holds his sword, the next question freezes him for a while.
"Whats your name?"
The blade slips. But her nimble right hand quickly get hold of it. When she stands up and turns around moments later there is no trace of unsureness in her face.
His voice is as steady as always, firm like the rocky cave walls surrounding them.
“There will be time to answer that ” he answers, a slight hurry in his tone, “But it is not now. Now that you are already healed, we have to go.”
“I’ll answer questions in our journey”
He walks to the entrance of the cave, a sheathed black blade in his right hand. The sun rays dance along his gleaming silver hairs. And his cloak, hood drawn back, sets a dark contrast against the cheery morning forest. Between the sunlight and the fire place he stops, his head looking up to the azure sky, ignoring any questions that may have been asked.
Now the sun is already high, and what left of the heavy snowstorm last night are just puddles of sparkling water. The leaves muffles as a breeze passes by, whispering between themselves. Somewhere far above another crow is gawking aloud, its hoarse voice echoing inside the cave walls.
The traveler hangs his head.
“How beautiful this world is now, but it is bound to end soon. He is coming, again.”
And with that mysterious note he turns his head around, staring at the Kokiri behind him. There on his refined face is painted a faint sad smile, a foil to his deep blue eyes.
For moment, just for a moment, what is standing on the cave entrance is just a silver-haired child wearing an odd set of black armor, as sad as she is lost.
“Mors certa”
A gust of wind suddenly blows, extinguishing the fire in an instant. The gale swirls around the traveller’s body, enveloping him in an air current so strong it can almost be seen. The traveler sets his eyes forward and bends his knees, looking as if he is ready to spring at anytime. (Myst uses Body of Wind ! Speed is increased and Damage halved for one turn !) (Body of Wind also affects allies, increasing their speed !)
But he has one last thing to say to the Kokiri. “But Lou, this part of journey will be hard”
She pauses.
“We may very well need some Swords and Shields”.
And with that, the traveler rushes forward, tearing through the calm forest like a silent whirlwind. Puddles splashes and leaves scatter left and right as the word “Swift” gains a new meaning.
Later on, as the days race on, night descends into the innocent Forest and the sun recedes then, never to be seen again.
A/N : Leon, many things can be answered in the thread "Truth in Tales" of Hyrule Castle Town. I am sorry for the rushed feel of this last post but for me its better to end this proper before the site really closes down. ________________________
Another Side, Another Story (This ends up to be a Valentine Plot....
And with those words, the cave explodes.
“CONGRATULATIONS‼”
From the dense trees and shrubs, from every nook and cranny in and around the cave come rushing a wave of characters, clad in every color and emotion imaginable. There can be seen Skyloftian Knights and Gerudo Pirates, and Zora monarchs with their stately queen. There are Stalfoses and Chus, Gorons, and Minishes, and a white Cuckoo, flying above their heads chased around by a little girl. From one corner a pair can be seen, a black haired man and a purple-clad woman, debating around a slew of friendly beasts. From another corner run a curious pair of knights, followed by a solemn-looking man in black clothes and a sword-wielding small Picori. Both the Tiniest Human and the Skyloft’s Finest are there, as are The Red Queen and her children. In large groups and pairs they come to the cave, shaking the Kokiries hands in delight and wonder.
“That was awesome! An awesome way!”
“What? What kind of engagement is that!? DUMB.”
“Ah, wondredth ways of Love. How thy mysteries never a being solveth...”
“And ‘ere I thought you’re gonna kill 'im....”
A regal looking blonde man is holding Myst’s hand in long reverence.
“For all my engagement affairs”, he says solemnly, “I have never even dreamed of such a brave and unique way of presenting a ring. With a sword, and a real killing threat. Just...wow”
A pair of dark-skinned fairies circle around them, mouthing foul words from their rather unrestrained lips.
“That was like, ******* cool. **** happens in this ****** up world, eh Sis?”
“**** right, Bro!”
A worried looking woman steps forward and hugs both the Kokiri in her arms, tears veiling her eyes.
“That was all nice and beneficially well”, she says, her voice shaking, “but, mmm...never attempt such dangerous things again, okay? I am worried that next time it will not go so well. We all are entitled to good conduct, you know.”
A loud clap is heard and all the heads turn. The woman smiles and returns to the crowd.
“Attention! Attention!” shouts a man carrying a lot of masks on his backpack, “Now the Queen’s going to legitimize the pair in the holy rule of Hyrule!”
The crowds cheer and steps backward, positioning themselves tidily in a wide circle around the cave and inside it. From the midst of the smiling faces a white-haired woman steps forward, eyes bloodshot and carries an authoritative aura.
The Dead Queen herself.
“The Holy Words of The Goddesses,” she starts, her voice both warm and chilling, “decrees that all pairs must swear a solemn oath, witnessed by trustworthy kins, so that their love will forever be bound to the Grace of Hylia, and blessed for eternity by her own limitless Love”
The crowds clap their hands and cheer out loud, becoming rowdy.
The Queen raise both of her hands and turns slowly to Leon. “Kokiri Leon, do you accept this...”
“Wa-wait! I...”
“I DO‼” roar the impatient crowds, clapping their hands and screaming laughter, drowning any and all possible answer from Leon.
The Queen smiles and tilts her head, turning it slowly toward Myst.
“Kokiri **********, do you accept...” “But actually I...”
“I DO‼” again the crowds shout and make an uproar, eliminating any other answer they do not want to hear.
The Queen raises her hands higher, head facing up the sky.
And with a clear tone, the final verdict is said,
“And with that, may Hylia bless them forever.”
The forest shakes as the boisterous crowds rush inside the cave, sweeping the two poor Kokiries in their eager hands. They hold them up and bear them away as the Indigo-Go’s start jamming their instruments out loud and the Green Cooking Mama of Kokiries begins to order the foods to be served. The party has started.
No matter how reluctant the reason of the party are, the party does not care, and it continues for nights and days until the site closes down.
The traveler does not move an inch as the Kokiri explains his reasons, only his glinting eyes give a sign that he is listening. He holds the blade in its threatening position like before, undeterred, and he keeps it that way.
Even when the Kokiri suddenly disappears.
With an almost unnatural speed the traveler swing his sword and turns around, guessing correctly where the Kokiri is going. He turns his heels, makes a dent on the moss, and even before the images return he has already point his sword toward the Kokiri. The silver hairs, swinging, catches the reflection of the sun, and for moment it sparkles like a frozen waterfall.
The eyes soften.
“So, that is your answer” the traveller says, his voice as plain as before “and thus all suspicions are proven”
A passing silence.
“Farewell”
Then, in one swift move the blade he holds flies, slicing the air like an angry snake snatching its prey. The sunlight is reflected on the blurry sides of the blade as its pointed tip forces its way to the leaning Kokiri’s direction...
...and a click echoes throughout the cave as it slips effortlessly into its sheath.
The traveler holds the now sheathed blade in front of the Kokiri, placing it horizontally with both of his hands. He walks closer and stands there unmoving, in an obvious gesture for the Kokiri to take his sword back.
“Forgive me, Lou”, she says, a calmer tone in her voice, “but ever since the Rebels rob our queen and our kingdom in such violence, I do not know who to trust anymore. I did memorize this questioning procedure, but this is only the second time I’ve seen an “Enchanted” victim, so...”
His voice trails of in a slight tremble, but quickly regains its neutral tone.
“But now I know I can trust you. Of course you wouldn’t have known my name. Personally we’ve never met before, but...”
His left hand lets go of the sheathed blade tip and rummages for something inside his cloak. Out of the black fabric the fingers produce a red ruby ring, emblazoned with a red lily. Then he brings both hands forward to the Kokiri’s reach, one holding the ring and the other the sheathed a blade.
“...but you might regain some memories from this ring, your precious”
Inside the ring’s bronze rim, huddled close in an elegant writing, a few words are carved. Captain Lou, of the Town Guard 10th Company
____________________ Tag: LEON A.N: Alright, Leon, we'll continue to post until the site goes down! The last thread of Woodfall Rises!
It might be unneeded, but I would like to add something that I hope may help the new site. Thank you.
1. Application: I do vote for the inclusion of "Accepted Characters" board like in other board. While I enjoy being able to see the character information right from its profile, I do think having a sort of archive, sorted by gender or races is really helpful when planning a plot or making a new character. The first thing I usually do when I join a Roleplaying Forum is to look at the "Accepted Characters", and I think that help to determine the character that would best fit into others and bring the most amount of variety into the site.
2. Plot: This is my opinion, but I think the next plots should probably regard the back-story and personality of the characters involved rather than an impartial "Join this quest" thread. Instead of making a completely new character and a completely new stage, it might be better to expand on the characters and help them advance their own development. We have many wonderful characters written by our members that could be made into at least a small plot, in my opinion. For example, rather than an invasion by undead, Hyrule could instead be invaded by Amaliarina Sashura's ex-husband looking for his wife. Allevy's not-so-noble past could come back to haunt him and he may need help from others. Josh's flaming sword might be a key part of some powerful artifacts, and Jake Cartney's mysterious demise could be linked to a hidden catastrophe happening in Skyloft, and so on and on. Although each character are entitled to advance their own, in my opinion a helping hand from staff-organized plots would help immensely, and create a sense of belonging to the characters that I think would prevent people leaving in the middle of a quest.
3. Canons: I support Melon on this, against the Canons, especially since Link and Zelda have so many incarnations. While mentioning one-time Canons such as Midna or Hilda in the backstory might give more credibility to a plot, I think that would limit our own freedom in choosing a time period of the forum, because we have to fit into their time frame.
4. Places: I also support Melon on places. I think many places will make it easier to have simultaneous Plots going on, and may accomodate epic proportions.
5. Weapons: I think a rather advanced weapon like crude guns might be allowed, as long as it is not too advanced. I do recall Final Fantasy Tactics Advance have guns along with Summoners and Greatbows, and the reason behind them (Moogles) can easily be explained by Termina (based on my Majora's Mask experience, at least), and in the environment's context they are not out-of-the-place (Skyloft even has robots!). I do think guns will add a certain charm to a certain character. Aliz would not be so cool if she had shoot bottles with a crossbow! But I agree with Blaze that they should be regulated, or at least state specifically that they are no different from other weapons just because they are guns. I am sure our members can manage.
I think that is all. I'll certainly do what I can to help in anyway!
The traveler’s eyes harden as he listens to the immobile Kokiri’s excuse. They have not been very easy before, but now they are visibly disturbed, their blue color becomes as if a raging sea.
“We might need violence,” she starts slowly, “now that we know you are not to be trusted."
The voice is cold and merciless, as is the hand that is holding the blade. “Last chance. What is my name?”
Somewhere, high in the branches outside of the cave, a crow is gawking loudly, cruel and gleeful.
_______________________________________________ a/n: Now it's up to Leon where to steer this thread to! Tag: LEON
If Myst is saved and allowed into the rebels for some days I would like for him to join. But please put her in semi-open, since if other rebellion members wants the party it is okay for her to not be included. Thanks!
Hearing this, the traveler nods slightly, as if confirming something to himself. He is already standing close in front of the sitting Kokiri now, still holding the other’s sword. The distance between them is, exactly, a blade’s length.
“If that is the only thing you can remember...”
Suddenly, a flash. A sound of sliding metal. There is a blur form of a sword being drawn and thin force of wind. “...then there is no reason to keep you alive.”
In one elegant move the sword shifted flawlessly from its sheathed form to a thrusting position, its tapered tip pressing the sitting Kokiri’s chest. Such is the speed of the traveler’s manoeuvre that the blade is already in position even before the wind from its movement touches the Kokiri’s hairs.
And under the light of the fire the bluish blade glints, as if asking forgiveness from its former master.
“Our ranks are special, forever bound to remember our comrades and our place of duty.” He speaks in the same plain voice, but slightly hostile. Eyes narrowing in suspicion. “The Queen equates those memories to the mind itself. And it is by Her Majesty’s order that those who have lost them...”
His grip becomes firmer. The blade in his right hand steadies itself.
“...can no longer be trusted to live”.
For a moment, only the fire makes a sound.
“I will give you one more chance, impostor”, the traveler continues, determined to press on, ”Name your position before, one that you remember.”
She blinks. A glint in the deep blue of her eyes.
“And tell me my name”.
The hand holding the sword is firm and ready, without a slightest trace of doubt or pity. There is no doubt that an unsatisfactory answer will result in the blade piercing through the immobile Kokiri’s heart.
Drizzleshade Level 0 : A slim one-handed sword with dark colors and unknown origins. When out of its sheath its blade continuously drips water.
ARMOR
??????an Black ?????? Armor Level 0: A light set of armor and helm worn by Myst. Until now, have no effect whatsoever.
SPELLS
Body of Wind : - Surrounds self or ally with a gust of magical wind, increasing defenses and speed a bit. MP : Effect: halves physical damage taken and increases speed for a turn
TECHNIQUES
Fordaeming A technique of sure kill, with severe limitation and harsh after effect. Using one of the “-shade” family of blades, Mysts performs an otherworldly slash, literally, with such speed and power that it will deplete a single target’s life to zero heart, no matter the condition before or after the technique is performed. The technique cannot be seen, and can only be felt after it ends. The activation and effect of this technique will not be affected by any other factors, the damage done will be as intended, and effects that activate when the target’s life is zero will not be activated if done using this technique. However, Fordaeming will not do any damage to Myst, except the Greiosla curse.
Fordaeming can be done in relation with Myst’s current Nimbleness of A Child technique.
Nimbleness of A Child level 1: Can use Fordaeming once in a thread, Greiosla curse level 1. Nimbleness of A Child level 2: Can use Fordaeming twice in a thread, Greiosla curse level 2. Nimbleness of A Child level 3: Can use Fordaeming thrice in a thread, Greiosla curse level 3. Nimbleness of A Child level 4: Can use Fordaeming four times in a thread ,Greiosla curse level 4.
Fordaeming can only be done if the following conditions are met: 1. Myst must have at least one level of “Nimbleness of A Child”. 2. Myst must be under the effect of “Body of Wind” spell. 3. Myst must have zero Magic Points left. 4. Myst must be aware of the target’s existence, or have an estimation of its existence. 5. The target must have a discernible neck, or at least a thinner part that can be called a neck. 6. Myst is not under the effect of “Slow” and/or the target is not under the effect of “Haste”. 7. Currently, Fordaeming can only be used using the “-shade” family of blades. Any other weapons will break before Fordaeming effect can be initiated.
The following targets are invalid for Fordaeming, and cannot be selected as a target by any means. 1. Myst 2. Twili in Shadowform. 3. Goron in Rolling Form. 4. The target is underwater. 5. The target is under the effect of “Haste”. 6. The target’s existence is unknown (such as a Sheikah being in shadow). However, once known they will be valid as a target. 7. The target does not have heart points at all (for example, NPCs), or the heart points is already zero. 8. A Boss that is not allowed to be one-hit KOed due to Plot reasons (a good story is much better than a victory!)
Any other units, including flying units, are eligible as a target.
If all the conditions are met, then a single target’s heart will be reduced to zero, and stay that way. The only thing that can bring a target back is if healed by another one, and it must be by another one. Any other effect that will result in the target’s survival is prevented to activate and is negated before, during, and after Fordaeming’s effect, except if done by another person after Fordaeming ends.
After using Fordaeming, it will inflict the curse Greiosla to Myst. This is mandatory, and once applied, the curse cannot be negated or dispelled by any other means, even by turning back time (because both Fordaeming and Greiosla belong to another plane). Greiosla curse effects last until the end of the thread. Greiosla can only be produced or upgraded using the effect of Fordaeming, and no other effect can produce Greiosla since it is not copiable.
However, Fordaeming itself is copiable. But, if used by any character other than Myst it will be restricted to one usage per thread in any and all circumstances. Since Greiosla can only apply to Myst, those who used Fordaeming other than Myst will not feel the curse.
- After Myst uses Fordaeming once, Greiosla level 1 will be applied to Myst. Myst will take two times the damage (multiplied at the very end of damage calculation) and will be stunned for 1 post for every three consecutive posts in which Myst receive damage, not counting the damage received during the duration of the stun. The curse applies until the end of the thread. Cannot be dispelled. - After Myst uses Fordaeming for the second time, Myst’s Greiosla will be upgraded to level 2. From that point on, Myst will take three times the damage (multiplied at the very end of damage calculation) and will be stunned for 1 post for every three consecutive posts in which Myst receive damage, not counting the damage received during the duration of the stun. The curse applies until the end of the thread. Cannot be dispelled. - After Myst uses Fordaeming for the third time, Myst’s Greiosla will be upgraded to level 3. From that point on, Myst will take four times the damage (multiplied at the very end of damage calculation) and will be stunned for 1 post for every three consecutive posts in which Myst receive damage, not counting the damage received during the duration of the stun. Also, Myst cannot recover Heart Points by any means, except by direct intervention from other character. The curse applies until the end of the thread. Cannot be dispelled. - After Myst uses Fordaeming for the fourth time, Myst’s Greiosla will be upgraded to level 4. From that point on, Myst will take five times the damage (multiplied at the very end of damage calculation) and will be stunned for 1 post for every three consecutive posts in which Myst receive damage, not counting the damage received during the duration of the stun. Also, Myst cannot recover Heart Points and/or Magic Points by any means, except by direct intervention from other character. The curse applies until the end of the thread. Cannot be dispelled. - If Myst somehow uses Fordaeming after the fourth time it will upgrade Myst’s Greiosla’s damage multiplier accordingly, while the effect is still Greiosla Level 4.
Needless to say, Fordaeming is not a technique made to win battles, and the risk for the user is very high. It is suitable only for one-on-one single situation and is appropriate for Myst’s dangerous role. In fact, it is the only thing Myst can count on. Without Fordaeming the risk of advancing the plot will be too high. It is useless in group battles and the presence of any other enemy will be very detrimental in Fordaeming’s use. And due to the nature of Fordaeming, Myst is forever banned from Tournaments or Events that require one-on-one dueling (because it would not be fair!).
The following sentences are technical considerations only:
SKILLS
Parry : Twice per thread you can completely block any attack that would have hit you, otherwise.
Jewelcraft (Blacksmith) : The ability to repair and craft magical accessories, especially concerning Jewels.
RACIAL ABILITIES
Nimbleness of the Child: That's actually not a very accurate title. Thanks to their forest magic, they can run even faster than the usual child.
Level 1 - The Kokiri can outrun the average person.
As the dead queen’s hollow voice echoes throughout the bloody room, the wanderer named Swift hides a smile behind his icy eyes.
A Ruler, worthy of servitude.
His eyes are still glued to the floor, where an unsaid permission prevented them from moving. The old Queen was said to be very peculiar about etiquette, though she did eschew most of the unneeded court formalities. But it is still a widely accepted manner to not raise one’s head in the presence of the Monarch until one is permitted to do so, and Swift would not want to be led into a trap.
Although in some sense he is already in one. For the same etiquette stated that the longer a monarch holds the suppliant’s head, the less their differences become. Such a fair rule placed by the wise monarchs of Hyrule. Suddenly, the presence changes.
The voice has never left, never changed at all. From the beginning it is as if the queen speaks from everywhere yet not from anywhere, and so is she still now. Without losing even a slightest beat the sentences continue unobstructed. But to the bowing wanderer it is clear that the presence of the queen itself has already moved. It is queer, as if the queen’s image is only a reflection from a mirror, and by simply changing the mirror’s angle the reflection shifts, while the one being reflected does not even move. It would not be surprising if the whole soul and substance of this throne room now belongs completely to the queen.
Swift holds his posture as the ethereal figure passes near him. He feels the air around his skin changes, a cold phantom drizzle, and the blood streaked floor he has been watching now sparkles as if being given a source of light. There is no sound, not even a stirring of wind, and the night has completely frozen. It has been so ever since he entered this room. There is only the moving presence, now speeding back to the table on the far side of the room, a faint whisper of memories long gone. The Stalfos blocking the entrance is decidedly uneasy, Swift feels, and he knows its body is unable to move.
And so is Swift, with his back still bending and his eyes not missing a blink. But different from the Satlfos, there is not a slightest hint of fear or hesitation in him. Then again, there is no feeling of defiance or superiority either. To the dead queen he would seem like an image only, with his silver hair flowing down in a curtain and the black of his armor reflecting the moonlight. A dim glowing child who is bowing on the red-colored floor, calm and impartial like the ancient moon shining above, as subservient as it is free.
There is only so much horror that this world can offer, one more than the other.
At the thought of this Swift’s blue eyes darkens. But he quickly clears away his thoughts and focuses on the presence of the queen.
It seems now that the Queen has settled in a place, with only her hollow voice bouncing still. She had shown in great eloquence about the state of many things, and Swift was not surprised to hear about the fate of others who have entered, dubious though the claim was. Then there was thinly veiled threats and obvious mockery, all to be taken seriously. It seems that the Queen is really as perceptive as the stories said she was.
Swift’s lips tighten a little. Although eloquence is best countered with eloquence, no one has ever showed his eloquence to Queen Aoife and left unscathed.
Besides, Swift could not do it.
“I will serve only your Crown, Your Majesty,” he says, a clear tune of mystery and innocence,”as long as the darknessfavors you. For it is the darkness only that I seek more, to relieve this eternal curse of mine.”
He pauses, holding his bait for the second time. Etiquette, and also experience, again dictates to never answer more than what is being asked when facing a monarch. Still bowing, he rummages through a leather sack hanging on his side, making rustling sounds, and then pulls out a few parchments. He lays them on the bloody floor, where his gaze has not left for all these times. The parchments shown there are in various conditions. Some are pristine and clean, another is torn and wet, yet another seems empty. In some papers there can be seen a crude layout of some places, and a pamphlet about Faron Woods is placed nearest to him.
“Forgive me for willing to say what your wisdom already knew, Your Majesty, such is my shortcomings.” He blinks, secretly wanting to test her perception again. “The forces are many, weak and leaderless. But the one in Faron Woods is not so, Your Majesty. They have chosen an ideal place, with strong woods and materials to further their ends, and their center protected by a dense forest. Your Majesty has known, but I be forgiven, such is the density of the trees that a vulture cannot flap his wings there.”
“But a canary can,” he adds, “unless he can no longer sing.”
Three answers. One sentence. Swift waits in perfect stillness, his gaze tracking the blood streaks on the floor. Another story needs to be proved now: that in her long reign the Queen respected talents, no matter where it came from.
The traveler waits patiently, holding the Kokiri’s sheathed sword with his two small hands as he stands listening to the Kokiri’s unsure answers. The sun shines from behind him, making his long shadow falls at the left side of the Kokiri, and whatever part of the traveler’s armor that is not covered by his cloak are sparkling by the fire’s light. During all the Kokiri’s talks the traveler’s expression does not change at all, only his body moves slightly. Painted in his face is still the same plain, unresponsive, impenetrable expression.
And the smile went unanswered.
“So it is” he says, taking a step forward, his boots creating a soft thump on the mosses. The sheath of the blade he is holding glows dim in his shadow.
“But is it all that you can remember?”
It seems that the shadows are longer now than they were before, when the new rising sun first created them.
