Gough grew up in the Goron village on Death Mountain. His father, Andre, kept a blacksmithing shop while his mother handled the customers. Gough learned to smith from his father in his spare time. His progress made many comment that only he could be his father's son. Andre didn't think the same. He felt his son was far too young to compete with his skill. Gough earned his father's respect when the shop was left without a smith due to his father falling ill. Gough kept up with his father's workload and impressed his usual customers with the quality.
Gough left his home to master his own smithing. His father believed that he was more than capable of opening his own shop, but Gough felt that he still did not come up to his father's skill. He picked out mountain peak with a handy cave and outcropping. Here he has practiced his smithing day by day hoping to master it. The cave and surrounding area has grown to accommodate his equipment. He is capable of smithing just about anything with the equipment he has acquired. Late at night the light of his forge can be seen flickering at the peak of the mountain as Gough duteously smiths.
