[Takes place just outside Dragon Roost Cavern, on the path up towards it.]
A step forward.
Pause.
Nope.
Still couldn't do it.
Marut sighed as he turned and paced back again. Gods he was being childish right now. But what kind of moronic idiot wants to go get chewed out by his overbearing and pissed off father? Not one that possessed any measure of sanity, that's for sure. So Marut was having a hard time actually taking those final few steps up into the town. He'd already made it back to the island before he was struck with a sudden instance of cold feet. He knew he'd have to face his father again, but he'd never been quite so scared of his home town before.
And it wasn't just his father.
He was pretty sure at least half the town would probably be livid with their prince for straight up running out on them, Din's Pearl in tow. Yeah it was mostly just a ceremonial decoration, but some people got really butthurt about these "cultural" things. It was just a shiny memento as far as Marut cared. Also the fact that he lost it didn't help. What? He can't be expected to keep track of everything! He kicked the dirt idly, trying to take his mind off the impending shitstorm he was about to walk into. Aneta had already gone inside to tell them he was back, or go get his father, or something. He wasn't really sure; and he could only imagine how any of that was going. Maybe they were glad to have the prince back, but what if they were pissed with him?
The shitty part was he couldn't really blame them if they were.
"Goddesses damn it all."
He said audibly with a sigh. Not like anyone was around to hear him; Only people who just arrived on the Island came through the pass on their way to the Cave, and he doubted many of them would be coming through. Probably. Gods he needed a distraction right now. Anything to take his mind off of how heavily he'd screwed up.

Josh had fallen asleep on the boat. Big mistake, he thought to himself as he looked at the bodies of the men who had tried to rob him.
"For Din's sake, why is it that the Great Sea seems to have the friendliest karking people, yet at EVERY SINGLE TURN someone tries to rob me?" he said aloud, irritated. Didn't matter where he went, it seemed. Windfall Island, or just taking a cruise to Dragon Roost. People just loved to rob the blonde man with the big sword. Sadly for them, they didn't usually live through it.
Josh had taken a boat to Dragon Roost Island for a secret mission. Given to him by someone by the name of... What was her name again? Din? Yeah, he thought that was it. It'd gone well enough, the seagulls were.... Well, whatever the hell kind of noise seagulls made. GUH. GUH. He didn't know. The water was clear and beautiful to look at, the sky was clear and blue, and they hadn't run into any storms, or giant monsters, or squids, or sharks... Nothing!
But, of course. The blasted Captain was in cahoots with a couple of bandits, and seeing the rather large bulge in his pouch, which really was due to the pearl moreso then anything else, they had set him up. All of a sudden, about halfway and two quarters to Dragon Roost, the bandits had attempted to attack Josh in his sleep. I mean, you couldn't blame the man for wanting a bit of rest after the long trip, but seriously? He'd cursed himself for letting his guard down, the clanging of their weapons and the stomping of their feet waking Josh just in time to grab Dragon's Flame and defend himself.
He had done well enough. The bandits lay dead around him. He wasn't a sucker for taking life, but they had planned on killing and robbing him and tossing his body into the sea. He wasn't exactly going to take that lying down.
He turned to the captain cowering in the corner. Josh shook his head at the man who had set him up. He pointed Dragon's Flame at the man, the Greatsword gleaming in the hot Great Sea sun.
"Now, can we get to Dragon Roost Island before I cut off your tongue for setting me up?" he asked, sounding both enraged and irritated. Seems he really couldn't trust anyone in this blasted place...
"Y-Yes sir!" the cowardly Captain said as he took the wheel. Josh was wide awake now, and stared out to sea as he watched Dragon Roost come into view...
As they touched down, Josh, who would normally give his polite goody good thank yous and take cares, instead turned to glare at the Captain.
"Before I go..." he began. Suddenly, the Adventurer and apparent Sage swung a punch that connected with the Captain's jaw, his superhuman strength evident as the turncoat flopped to the floor, his jaw dislocated and bleeding. He was unconscious, Josh had no will to kill him. He just wasn't like that. Though his anger had boiled over, he still couldn't let himself kill someone unarmed.
"THAT.... Was for setting me up!" he shouted down at the unconscious body. Taking a deep breath, Josh stepped off the boat, incredibly irritated at the turn this mission had taken. Gods, Din had said this was going to be "Super hard", he just didn't think it'd start before he even got to the blasted island.
Din... That was her name. The woman who had visited him in his dreams two nights ago. He took the pearl she had given him, the one he had woken up with out of his pouch... He stared at it for a moment as he looked back at his meeting with the beautiful goddess...
"Hey man, wanna fight?" the playful Goddess had opened it with. He liked her immediately, she amused him a great deal. Then things had taken a serious turn... Some blighter wanted to DROWN HYRULE! Drown it! He didn't know how in Great Hylia that was possible, but if the Goddesses said it, and the pearl was proof that he hadn't drank too much and had one of those vivid dreams... Then he needed to do something about it, and fast.
A Sage... She had called him a Sage. But what exactly was a Sage, he wondered to himself. He didn't know.... Destiny was a hell of a thing.
He needed to find Marut and take him to... What was it, Northern... Triangle... Island? She said it would be difficult, considering he was a brat, and he'd gone missing recently. She had pointed him toward Dragon Roost Island. Hopefully his father could help him start the search..
He cleaned Dragon's Flame in the water quickly. Blood stains on a sword when you were meeting with Rito royalty wasn't exactly the smartest thing. He took a breath and adjusted his tunic as he entered their home....
"Looks like hell's already broke loose. What's next?" he muttered to himself, referring to the attack on the boat. What else was the Goddesses going to throw at him? He was just a freelance Adventurer from Termina, after all!

The first thing Josh would hear upon entering the village was yelling.
Not at Marut of course, he was still just inside Dragon Roost, being too much of a bitch to go talk to ol' Pops. And when you could hear the man's voice all the way from his building, he wasn't feeling much motivation to change that any time soon. He couldn't really tell what his father was saying to be perfectly honest; but he assumed the man was pissed, so that's what he'd go with until told otherwise. Eventually his father would come out to look for him, but until then, he could have fun yelling at whatever poor Sod was telling him that his stupid brat of a Runaway son had come home. Hopefully it wasn't Aneta he was yelling at; He already felt bad enough for ditching her when he ran away, last thing he needed was her being blamed for his stupidity. Then again, his father always ~adored~ Aneta, and she had just brought the aforementioned runaway son home. She was probably getting a heroes welcome. Fuckin' good for her.
His attention turned as someone walked into the village, and not the usual guest. Well, humans came and went fairly often so it wasn't -that- strange, and a few even lived here. But generally not with full armor and a sword strapped to their waist. Probably an adventurer then. Or a mercenary. Either way, they had chosen a piss poor time to show up. Especially if they wanted to see the Chieftain, which he seemed to be headed towards.
Goddess, it's really not my problem if he walks into my father's tantrum, right?
...Right?
...Damn it.
"You might want to hold off on that."
He spoke from a short distance away just as the man was about to enter the Chieftains house; Technically, also Marut's house. Assuming his father didn't lop his head off or disown him. Whether or not this stranger heeded his advice didn't concern Marut in the slightest. As long as he was warned, his conscience was clear.

"Wha-?" he asked, looking over at the bird prince. "It's important" he explained. "I need to see the chiefian about finding the location of Marut, the Rito Prince" he said.
"This is... Probably going to sound REALLY weird to you..." he began. "But.... The Goddesses sent me. They sent me to find Prince Marut and take him to some island, Triangle... Something... Island... In order to keep some whackjob frown drowning Hyrule"
He sighed as he heard the commotion.
".... Mayyyyybe it's a bad time?" he said, shrugging. "I'll wait... But... If I don't mind asking, would you happen to know anything about where he's gone? Din had told me to come here first to start my search"
Why him? Seriously, did he do something to piss off the Spirits? Maybe looked at Valoo funny once? Clearly some higher power had to be behind this string of crap-shot luck. Seriously, Aneta finds him in a few weeks, and then not even a few after returning home, some nutter shows up looking for him? This was just plain unfair.
Seriously. The goddesses sent him? Yeah right.
Marut simply scrunched his eyes in a hard stare at the man, his lips forming a thin line. He wasn't even sure whether he should respond to this whacko or just turn around and walk away. Maybe that'd be for the best. But then he'd still end up walking in and talking to his father anyway. Bugger.
Which meant Marut had to get him to bugger the fuck off somehow.
"...Drown Hyrule, huh?"
His skepticism was evident in his tone. If his tone didn't give it away, his absolute deadpan stare at him might tip him off. He referenced some "whackjob" trying to drown Hyrule, but to Marut he was clearly the crazy one.
