Why him? Seriously, did he do something to piss off the Spirits? Maybe looked at Valoo funny once? Clearly some higher power had to be behind this string of crap-shot luck. Seriously, Aneta finds him in a few weeks, and then not even a few after returning home, some nutter shows up looking for him? This was just plain unfair.
Seriously. The goddesses sent him? Yeah right.
Marut simply scrunched his eyes in a hard stare at the man, his lips forming a thin line. He wasn't even sure whether he should respond to this whacko or just turn around and walk away. Maybe that'd be for the best. But then he'd still end up walking in and talking to his father anyway. Bugger.
Which meant Marut had to get him to bugger the fuck off somehow.
"...Drown Hyrule, huh?"
His skepticism was evident in his tone. If his tone didn't give it away, his absolute deadpan stare at him might tip him off. He referenced some "whackjob" trying to drown Hyrule, but to Marut he was clearly the crazy one.

The first thing Josh would hear upon entering the village was yelling.
Not at Marut of course, he was still just inside Dragon Roost, being too much of a bitch to go talk to ol' Pops. And when you could hear the man's voice all the way from his building, he wasn't feeling much motivation to change that any time soon. He couldn't really tell what his father was saying to be perfectly honest; but he assumed the man was pissed, so that's what he'd go with until told otherwise. Eventually his father would come out to look for him, but until then, he could have fun yelling at whatever poor Sod was telling him that his stupid brat of a Runaway son had come home. Hopefully it wasn't Aneta he was yelling at; He already felt bad enough for ditching her when he ran away, last thing he needed was her being blamed for his stupidity. Then again, his father always ~adored~ Aneta, and she had just brought the aforementioned runaway son home. She was probably getting a heroes welcome. Fuckin' good for her.
His attention turned as someone walked into the village, and not the usual guest. Well, humans came and went fairly often so it wasn't -that- strange, and a few even lived here. But generally not with full armor and a sword strapped to their waist. Probably an adventurer then. Or a mercenary. Either way, they had chosen a piss poor time to show up. Especially if they wanted to see the Chieftain, which he seemed to be headed towards.
Goddess, it's really not my problem if he walks into my father's tantrum, right?
...Right?
...Damn it.
"You might want to hold off on that."
He spoke from a short distance away just as the man was about to enter the Chieftains house; Technically, also Marut's house. Assuming his father didn't lop his head off or disown him. Whether or not this stranger heeded his advice didn't concern Marut in the slightest. As long as he was warned, his conscience was clear.

[Takes place just outside Dragon Roost Cavern, on the path up towards it.]
A step forward.
Pause.
Nope.
Still couldn't do it.
Marut sighed as he turned and paced back again. Gods he was being childish right now. But what kind of moronic idiot wants to go get chewed out by his overbearing and pissed off father? Not one that possessed any measure of sanity, that's for sure. So Marut was having a hard time actually taking those final few steps up into the town. He'd already made it back to the island before he was struck with a sudden instance of cold feet. He knew he'd have to face his father again, but he'd never been quite so scared of his home town before.
And it wasn't just his father.
He was pretty sure at least half the town would probably be livid with their prince for straight up running out on them, Din's Pearl in tow. Yeah it was mostly just a ceremonial decoration, but some people got really butthurt about these "cultural" things. It was just a shiny memento as far as Marut cared. Also the fact that he lost it didn't help. What? He can't be expected to keep track of everything! He kicked the dirt idly, trying to take his mind off the impending shitstorm he was about to walk into. Aneta had already gone inside to tell them he was back, or go get his father, or something. He wasn't really sure; and he could only imagine how any of that was going. Maybe they were glad to have the prince back, but what if they were pissed with him?
The shitty part was he couldn't really blame them if they were.
"Goddesses damn it all."
He said audibly with a sigh. Not like anyone was around to hear him; Only people who just arrived on the Island came through the pass on their way to the Cave, and he doubted many of them would be coming through. Probably. Gods he needed a distraction right now. Anything to take his mind off of how heavily he'd screwed up.

[Lost this post. Twice. Bleasyhbdjasdasda.]
Of course she was confident. Aneta had always had something Marut lacked; Well, a few things. Responsibility, for one. But most of all, Ambition. While he had no idea just how far that ambition went or how she was manipulating him at the moment, he had always known she had a drive to rule and help her people that Marut never did. He remained silent after she finished speaking, as if mulling over her offer. In truth, he'd already made up his mind.
He'd always meant to go back to Dragon Roost eventually. Although he would have liked his extended vacation to have lasted a bit longer; A few years was the plan. But Marut was familiar with the fact that you can't always get what you want. (But if ya try sometimes~ Ya just might find~ -) Er, right. Back to relevant things.
His hand rubbed his temples, shaking his head in dismayed acceptance. His eyes, opened as he stood, stretching his arms.
"Alright."
He turned to look directly at her, his hand stretched towards her to help her up.

Great. Good going Marut. Now she's going to cry.
Marut's head tilted back, his eyes closing in frustration as she pulled away and curled up into ball. He inwardly groaned at himself; Why couldn't she just be mad at him? Or condescending, or rude, or something that would make him not feel like an asshole for being mean to her. But here she was, honestly [except not] trying to talk with him and he had already brought her to the verge of tears. Sometimes his ineptitude amazed even him.
"That's not it."
He spoke with a sigh, moving his gaze to look back at Aneta. One hand moved to place itself on her shoulder; A crap attempt at comfort, but physical contact would help get the point across. Hopefully. Maybe. Marut wasn't great at this.
"It's not you, Aneta. It was never you."
The second sentence was quieter, almost a mutter. Still audible enough for her to hear, but only if she was actually listening. Without removing his hand, his gaze shifted back out to the sea; The same view he'd been looking out across when she had arrived and interrupted him. He stayed silent for a few moments, before continuing.
"...If you really want too, you're welcome to come with me."
You're going to regret that.
He silenced the part of his mind that nagged at him. Mostly because he knew even that offer still wouldn't be enough. From what she told him, he'd hurt when he left. Not just that, but he'd basically up and ditched his family and fiance, who apparently actually did give a shit about him. And for the first time since he left, Marut actually felt guilty about it. Guilty for just up and leaving his friends and family without a word; Guilty for running away.
"I'm sorry I left."
But the idea of going back only twisted his guilt back into bitterness. He thought of his father, of the guards, of the endless and suffocating responsibility and monotony he had to go through every single day. His eyes narrowed, still gazing out to sea; But his grip on her shoulder tightened momentarily without him meaning or noticing.

There must have been an Outbreak of sudden insanity on Dragon Roost while he was gone. That or this was an odd dream.
A quick, indiscreet bite of the cheek confirmed that it was not. The pain was there, which meant he was conscious. Or so the suspicion went anyway. But that only made Marut more confused. Because here was his fiance whom he could barely be around one another since they learned about the engagement treating him like; Well, like a wife would. Joking, fussing over him, etc. He just kind of sat there dumbfounded as she didn't deliver the answer he'd been expecting. She came all the way out into the Islands just to visit him? She didn't even know where he was; Well, he thought she didn't. So either she was lying or she had -really- wanted to go see him. He was inclined to think it was the former.
"I'm fine, Aneta. There's plenty of food around."
He gestured in front of him to the food he was currently eating. It hadn't exactly been scarce; Not all the time at least. He'd taken plenty of rupees with him, and frugal use of them had ensured he never ran short. And the free food from good Samaritans was always nice too. He was about to continue before she grabbed his arm and shifted closer, staring him straight in the eye as she "professed" to how much she missed him.
Well, Marut was never exactly the brightest of males.
He genuinely thought that Aneta had missed him. And boy did he absolutely no idea how to respond. Considering how long he had been cooped up on Dragon Roost doing purely official things, and with no immediate family he was particularly close to besides maybe his younger sibling, this emotional stuff was kind of new territory for him; Which is also why he had no idea she was lying through her teeth. He stared back at her for a few moments without a word, before turning his head away from her; Anything to avoid keeping eye contact.
"I, uh, missed you too- I guess."
He still refused to make eye contact with her as he spoke; His free hand scratching the back of his head absently so he had an excuse to lean away from her. His dear fiance was doing a hell of a job at throwing him off balance. He almost forgot the reason she had clearly come all the way out here to find him. Almost.
Focus, idiot.
Partly out of a desire to change the subject and partly out of suspicion, he spoke again to cut her off before she continued on the topic.
"How'd you find me? This place isn't exactly a hot spot of communication."

Dude shrugged off his shirt? Well, the vest at least. Thankfully his opponent wasn't some weirdo who stripped to fight. That'd just get awkward for everyone real fast. Marut chucked the now useless vest off to the side, moving to pursue his enemy even as he hopped back. By the time Allevy stopped moving, Marut would still be within a few paces of him: Which unfortunately, put him in a perfect position to get blinded by the Deku Nut his opponent threw. One arm moved to cover his eyes as he shut them just before it went off, only barely registering the threat before it went off. Too late to block the effects, but not too late to try.
"Tch."
Marut moved his arms in front of him as an instinctive guard, his eyes wincing as his vision only slowly returned to him. Like this he probably never could have hit his opponent on his own. Luckily, his opponent was kind enough to give Marut a road map to where he was standing. The hook shot would launch out and strike Marut in the torso, knocking the wind out of him. But it also slipped right into his arm guard, as his arm snapped around the chain of the hook shot even as it struck his gut.
He grabbed the chain, and as it retracted back to it's owner, he let it guide his movements. His vision was still blurry, but when he was being pulled to his target, he didn't need much. His free arm lashed out almost instinctively as he closed in on his enemy, aiming for a quick strike at his torso.

So he wanted to meet Marut head on, huh? He could live with that. As his foe brought his arm down in an attempt to lock Marut's hand under his armpit, he simply accelerated to meet up. His hand was "caught" under his foes arm-pit, yes, but that sort of hold was a tenuous one simply due to the leverage of the shoulder- Gripping something via the arm pit was never the most stable way to hold something. And Marut actually wanted something more binding, so he had his kind-of bound hand grab onto the lad from it's position, getting a fistful of his shirt to hold on to. His opponent may have been faster, but he had just put himself in a close quarters grapple with Marut, which by far favored the avian boy. Like this, his mobility was restricted, and they were too close to reasonably draw and swing a weapon.
The acceleration also brought him closer in for when his enemy attempted a head butt. Realizing dodging would be rather moot due to the close quarters and speed at which he was moving, he simply grit his teeth and angled his head, causing the head butt to really be more of a smashing together of foreheads. While this stung a bit, he could keep his footing relatively easily his head simply bounced back a tad- Not to mention since it had been a clash of foreheads, his opponent would likely be just as disoriented as he was. Headbutts were a pain in the ass like that.
His left arm, looking for something to do as the rest of his body whirred in motion, would simply bring itself up and jab into his opponents torso, almost simultaneously with the clash of their skulls. At such close quarters, it would be insanely hard to miss, given his proximity to his target and the speed of a jab.

You know that "Deer in Headlights" feeling when something really unexpected happens, and you can't really hide your surprise at what's happening?
That was Marut right now.
"Uh, Hi?"
His head whipped to the side the moment she sat down next time, finally jarring him out of his own thoughts as she greeted him. In his list of "Things I expected to happen today", his fiance showing up out of the blue had not been considered. The thought briefly stuck him that this was some sort of cosmic punishment for thinking about home, even if only briefly. That'll teach me to reminisce. Thanks for that, whatever crappy deity is listening to this. Realizing he was still kind of just staring at her in shock, he cleared cleared his throat, moving his gaze back out to the ocean and trying his best not to stare at her.
"What are you doing here, Aneta?"
The question would come out more like an accusation than a query, because the answer was pretty obvious. He had never known her to be the aimless wandering type, and even if she was the odds of them just running into each other on some crappy little island? Virtually impossible. Which meant he could only think of one reason why she'd be here; Though he sorely hoped he was wrong.

The avian humanoid stretched one arm across his chest briefly as his name was called, before he moved his gaze toward his opponent. Moving towards his opponent, he sized up the other youth, making his own biased mental judgments of his opponent. He debated internally whether he should let his opponent introduce himself, and even allow him to make the first move. And then he had a Vietnam-esque flashback to a certain dark skinned fairy who had taken just such an opportunity to explode in his face immediately.
A collective screw that resounded through his head.
Giving his opponent a moment to prepare himself- He would afford his opponent that much-, he lunged. He closed the gap between the two of them in a few moments, mailed gauntlets glinting dangerously as he approached. His arm whipped out at his opponent, aiming to strike the youth before he had a chance to defend himself.

[Totally didn't rip off this title. That ain't me~.]
As far as ratty little islands went, this one wasn't so bad. He'd been here for a little while, and had been pretty swell so far; Except for how everyone kept gawking at him like some sort of show piece. Apparently Rito didn't visit this little island much, aside from delivering mail, so one actually just, -gasp-, visiting was a source of attention. While it meant people were generally staring and gaping at him upon first meeting, they were also pretty hospitable so he had gotten along fine so far. Hell, some of them didn't even ask him to pay for food and supplies. Goddess knows why, but they didn't. For that reason he had stuck around because hey; Free food. Maybe not great food, but Marut wasn't feeling picky if it didn't stretch his already thinning amount of Rupees.
Unfortunately, this also made him stick out like a sore thumb. And since they didn't get many Rito, it also would make him pretty easy to find if, well, anyone was asked.
Marut was spending this particular evening some of his free food, just outside of the outskirt of the small town on a nearby cliff side. He was sitting in solitude, looking out at the ocean like some kind of conceited edgy douche-bag trying to look deep and shit. Honestly he just felt like being by himself for a second while he ate, because let's face it, chatterboxes are annoying. And maybe looking at the Ocean reminded him of home, Dragon Roost Island, a wee bit. Not that he wanted to go back, or would ever admit to that even if he did, but it was nice to think about it everyone once in a while.
He didn't even hear the person walking up behind him.

If it were possible to have Vietnam-esque flashbacks to something that happened only moments previous, Marut's mind would have been filled with images of exploding little fairy girls the second his target turned into a tiny fireball. His eyes widened in a sort of Oh shit, before he instantly ceased his charge toward her and instead bounded away to place some distance between them. Not quite the huge span he had created earlier when he had shoved her away from him, but far enough that if she started exploding again, he could probably react somewhat. Not that it would matter much if she did; Even a graze from another one of those explosions would probably knock him out cold.
Still, it wasn't like she was moving to attack him.
She imagined that the girl was trying to bait him into attacking her little fire-fury mode, because she hadn't yet made any moves to directly attack her. The now fading boost that his spell had given to his speed would allow him to stay away from her simply moving at him, and he was more concerned about more ranged attacks or explosions than a flaming tackle. His arms remained raised in front of him, once again aimed at covering as much of the space in front of him as possible from incoming attacks. And then, he waited. The fire had to go away eventually, right?
Either that or she'd have to attack him, because there was no way he was going anywhere near a girl-on-fire ever again. EVER.
[No attacks launched. No attacks received. Chillin a few feet from her.]

Maybe pushing the fairy away had been a bad idea. It had given him some breathing room, yeah, but he only realized a few moments later as she pulled out a gun that she was probably a distance fighter anyway. And with that, he realized he had screwed up pretty hard putting himself out of arms reach of her. He grit his teeth as she brought it to aim at him, focusing all the magic ability in his body into a spell. Wind coalesced and curled around him, coating his body with a layer of constantly moving and shifting air. Due to being, well, transparent [It is just air after all], it would be hard to spot, but it would do it's job.
He began moving toward her, curving his path slightly in an attempt out of the way of the bullet. No such luck. Less than a moment after he started moving he felt a searing pain in his side as the bullet grazed his abdomen, causing him to let out a low hiss between clenched teeth. Still, the spell kept on, dampening the blow and increasing his momentum, and after a short pause, he continued his path toward her. She might have been fast, but with the wind on his side he was fast enough to catch her... probably. He held his arms up in front of him, fists closed like that of a boxer preparing to spar, readying himself to deal with anymore oncoming attacks. And like this, he advanced, moving to close the several feet between them in a few moments, and pursue her if she made a move to run.
Gottagofast.
[Cast Body of Wind, Damage of bullet is halved by Body of Wind, taking a quarter heart. Marut is now dashing at Kairi with his cocaine Body of Wind speed-buffz. No attacks launched.]

A fairy? For real? It was rare to see one in a full-sized form, but it was pretty easy to tell that his opponent was in fact a member of the usually mini-sized race. He cocked his size, wondering how she convinced them to let her participate. Aside from great fairies, the fae usually weren't known for their combat ability; And even great fairies usually didn't do much fighting. Still, he supposed she had some reason to be here, so it wouldn't do to understimate her.
"Ready to get your ass kicked?"
Marut rolled his eyes at the comment, along with it's follow up statement. Someone was pretty confident. Marut opened his mouth to retort, but was interrupted by the sight of his opponent turning into flames and exploding. Needless to say he was a bit taken by surprise. He reeled in place, taking a step back uselessly as the three consecutive explosions slammed into him relentlessly, very nearly knocking him straight off his ass and out of the fight in a single go. His head spun, but instinct and desperation kicked in as he was aware of her stepping back after the attack. Only one thing to do then; Counter attack with whatever he could.
Which in this case was him diving forward at the still close girl and extending his right arm straight toward her stomach, following with another jab aimed at his chest, aiming to knock her back and away from him so he could get some damn breathing room. Pain coursed through him as he moved, but he gritted his teeth and bore through it; The second he stopped moving he was probably going to get wiped out, and he couldn't let that happen. Not this quickly, and not to a damn fairy!
