Tonight was the night, she had been waiting for this for ages. Sitting in class, staring out the window. Olive always knew she belonged somewhere else. While staying on the island meant she would be guarenteed saftey, the idea bored her. Besides she often contemplated if it was possible to be happy if ones heart belonged somewhere else. More often than not she came to the same conclusion, no. Olive had been amusing the idea of leaving the island for years. She just graduated the academy yesterday, it was part of the reason she never left sooner.
She was nervous about getting caught, but swift as ever. Her loftwing sat waiting for her on one of the docks. She breathed. While Olive didn't find the appeal in romance between people she had grown to love her loftwing. This was due to growing up with it, she didn't associate with people often. "I'm going to miss you steel," she murmured into the birds nape. She was sad, and reminiscent. Olive wondered if her travels would ever take her back to Skyloft, or if she would forever be a outcast.
She had made her dues. Her mother and father would wake to her gone, she figured that was easier on their emotional being. Rather than tugging their heart strings with a goodbye, one they wouldn't understand. Her mother always talked about how great Skyloft was, to have the safety, security, gaurenteed happiness essentially. Security did not make Olive happy, however. It was rather.. boring, she thought. She straightened herself out, pulling her spine straight. It was time to leave. Steel startled suddenly and flew off, Olive turned around hoping she wouldn't be faced with some sort of authority.
Sneaking out at night couldn’t get any easier when your parents are fast asleep in their bed. Probably not the best idea though. Seeing as Jacob just got yelled at a couple days ago for sneaking off in the night. But in his defense, he couldn’t sleep. Not with those horrible nightmares about the night where his twin brother died all those years ago. Since that day forward, the blonde spent most of his time alone doing what he loved most reading or doing some other things.
Letting out a long drawing sigh, the young squire walked along the path. He was making his way to the secret hide out he and his twin had when they were just kids. It was there that he could finally relax without any duties or anyone to bother him there. Sure it was getting hard to get in and out of that small space since he had grown in the time period, but it was worth to him all together.
The blonde hadn’t really noticed Olive there. Nor would he try to stop her from leaving Skyloft. If it was up to him, Jacob would gladly go with her. The only thing stopping him was his promise to his twin. Otherwise everything would have been different. Much different.
It wasn’t until he was within a couple feet of he that he actually noticed Olive standing there. Okay…? What was a girl doing out here in the middle of the night like himself? That wasn’t strange at all. There was only one way to find out what the hell she was doing out here. But Jacob wasn’t really in the mood to be talking to someone. Let alone be asked why he was out here himself.
Regardless, the squire slowly made his way towards the girl, who seemed to be around his age. “What the hell are you doing?” He questioned sharply. “Shouldn’t you be in bed or something?”
His tone of voice rather rude sounding, but that was pretty much normal with him. He usually treated everyone this way unless he was close to them. Meaning there weren’t that many that ever got to see the kinder side of him.

Upon turning around Olive as faced with a boy, taller than her and blonde. Her eyebrows drew together as she mused his apperance. Ah! I remember.. his brother, oh. A look of sympathy crossed her face briefly before she became stern. "You sir are one to talk! I am a graduated Knight I'll have you know." She looked at him stoned faced, before it turned sour. "Knight," tasted funny in her mouth. She sighed, "Sorry, for being rude. I just did not expect company. You've scared my bird."
She looked out over the edge hoping to see Steel nearby, only to be faced with the night sky. Another sigh. She walked away from the edge of the dock, stretching before plopping down at the edge of the tree. Olive didn't know what to do about this boys presence, she just wanted to leave. The distraction she could care less for, she just wanted to make haste. While the boys past was well known Olive frankly didn't care. Caring meant feelings, which scared her. She feared getting tied down to something that could be used against her. Steel was different, Olive trusted him to look after himself. She looked over at the boy again.
"Are you going to leave me be so I may continue what I had intended or are you just going to stand there and not talk? Mr. Anit-Social." She said, snickering. Olive was one to talk, She rarely talked to people unless they approached her, but at least she was nice.
Maybe he really just should have just the girl alone and go to his childhood hide out. It would have been better that way. It’s been at least what… three days since he last talked to anyone that wasn’t his family. Why did he start now? Jacob could almost kick himself for doing so.
The way she looked at him for that quick moment did not sit well with him. He didn’t need anyone’s damn pity! Not now, not ever. That last move only really angered the blonde. Already enough people showed him pity since he lost his twin. As far as he knew, he didn’t need nor did he want it.
Really? She actually thought he care that she was a knight? He could have been a knight by now if he really wanted to. The only reason he was a squire was because he was forced into by his father. “You think I care?” The squire scoffed. “Besides, I sneak out almost every night, so it doesn’t matter.”
Of course, it mattered when his father started scolding him again for the millionth time, but that was beside the point. He didn’t really know how to response to her words that followed. Truth be told, Jacob wasn’t expecting an apology for her. So in all he decided to stay silence, not really knowing what to say.
He silently watched Olive leave the dock and go sit herself under a tree. Great. Now what was he supposed to do? More than anything he wanted to leave. After all, the blonde haired male had places… more like place to be. Anything was better than being here with miss so-called knight here. What kind of knight went flying on their loftwing in the middle of the night? It was a dangerous thing unless you were trained to do so.
Jacob didn’t take being called mister anti-social too lightly. Hell, if Olive wasn’t a girl that last comment of hers would have earned a nice hard punch to the face or two. “Shut the hell up! You don’t know a damn thing about me!” He bellowed. “I was only…Never mind forget it. You’re not worth it…”
The only thing he could do at the moment was just give her a cold glare. At this point in time, the young squire was beyond pissed. Why did he even bother? It was her death wish, flying in the middle of the night. Besides, shouldn’t a knight know what stupid it was to fly at night? Hell, he was still in training and he knew that much.

"If I really wasn't worth it, you would have left. So why are you here?" She looked over at up in his direction. Suddenly she startled to her feet. "Shh.. little one, it is okay. Keep calm." Her attention was no longer on the boy but the Remlit behind him. While she was fine around such creatures, most citizens of Skyloft weren't as equiped to deal with them as her. It's hair stood on end as it prepared to lunge. "Leave little one.. he is like me.. he means no harm." It stared at her. She stood there, hand going to her hilt, hoping the Remlit would move on.
She always felt guilty, because the Remlit's were so kind during the day. Most of them did not attack her as she could speak to them, she was able to talk her way out of a fight. She giggled. Her words sounded human to her ears, but would they to the boy? The Remlit didn't seem to know what to do and instead laid down, glowering at the two. "Hm, he seems okay now. Anyways." She shrugged, turning attention back to Jacob. "You are correct in saying I do not know a 'damn thing about you,' however it is common knowledge that you do not like to associate with people. Therefore, amuse me. Why are we having this conversation?"
Yep. That’s it. He just should have left her alone and make his way to his destination. Everything would have been less stressful if he did. Why the hell was he even still here? The was no reason to be talking to her… Maybe he was actually just lonely...
Gah! Jacob shook his head at that idea. No way in hell did he need anyone. Being alone was better anyhow. No one to depend on you, no one to hurt you that was the better choice for him. Being a knight was not something he could do. Not anymore without his twin alongside him.
Okay maybe she had a point about him still being here. The blonde didn't really know himself why he was even here anymore. He had somewhere to be. “How would I know?” He growled. It took a few moments for him to process that she was actually talking with a Remlit. How was that even possible? Whatever. Probably better off not knowing. Actually, he didn’t even care.
Crossing his arms across his chest, the young squire watched Olive have a small conversation with the Remlit. For a second there, he was completely dumbfounded. However, he managed to pushed that feeling away, still keeping up with his silence.
After a few moments of waiting, she finally bought back her attention to him, which of course he didn’t really care for. Now she was just being just as rude as he was. If only she wasn’t a girl. More than anything Jacob wanted to beat the living hell out of her, but alas she was a girl. Even he had his morals and beating up a girl wasn’t one of them.
It took everything for the squire to hold down his wicked temper. Another bad comment like that one would surely cause him to lose it. “I have my reasons why I stay away from people, but what’s your problem? You’re probably just as bad as me with ignoring the world around you.” If she this is how she wanted it, he could throw some words back at her. “I really don’t know why I’m talking to a worthless knight such as yourself.”
In his eyes, Olive was the one who started it, so he was going to end it. That could have been worse. Much worse. “I have my reasons why I shut people out. But what’s yours?” Jacob questioned rudely. This was probably the same reason why he didn’t talk to people. He couldn’t be nice to anyone. Only those who were close to him got the nice side of him.

She laughed to herself, being perceptive benefited her. Those who are hurt inside tend to hurt those around them. "I doubt you will listen to my words, they will be wasted vibrations along the air." She sighed. The wind was blowing her hair around her face lightly she looked whimsickle. She laughed again, "Why don't I talk? Simply because no one understand." She glanced over at the Remlit which had appeared to lose interest in the overly-dramatic conversation. "I fail to understand your temper, I do not mean to anger you. I simply talk.. the way it is." She shrugged, twirling in the wind.
Olive so badly wanted to be in the sky, to experience the free fall that would bring her to life. "People do not understand that sometime your heart belongs somewhere else, how can you be happy where your heart is not?" She stood and looked at him, in all seriousness. Olive truly wanted his opinion on the answer, maybe he would get it. She shrugged, "Pardon, but I do not expect you to understand. Why leave when Skyloft offers security."
She shook her head hair falling into her face, she swept it away. "If you truly wish to leave, feel free. However if not I would prefer to not be attacked verbally anymore. Thank-you." With a curt nod, he turned her back on him, staring up at the sky. Sighing. The sky up here is so clear, my books say the stars don't shine as bright down there. "Will I miss this solitude in Hyrule?" She said. The last sentence stumbled out of her mouth so unintentional she wasn't aware she had spoke the softly murmured words. Her arms wrapped around her as she began to feel the cold.

Great. And now she was laughing at him. Jacob grimaced, trying to calm his nerves down. This probably was another reason why he didn’t talk much to others. Everyone usually pissed him off somehow some way. It wasn’t like he wanted to hear her sob story anyway. He had better things to do. Besides the blonde knew his life story was probably worse. But he kept his rude comments to himself this go around. Instead he sighed, stuffing his hands in his pockets in effort to keep them warm. He should have put some more layers on to keep himself warm, seeing it was pretty cold tonight.
The young squire didn’t really know what say when Olive answered his question of why she ignored the people around her like he did. The answer he got was one that he could actually relate to, but he defiantly was not going to tell her that. He understood where she was coming from. There was just more for his reasoning to why stay away from others than hers. Since his twin’s death almost everyone treated him different. He hated that more than words could express.
Riiight. She talked the way it is? Wasn’t it her that started the whole name calling moments before calling him mister anti-social? Jacob simply was returning the favor. So of course, Olive was going get him pissed with being everything else she had said to him. “Whatever. You’re the one who started it.” The blonde pointed out. “Not me.”
He blinked a few times in surprise, not knowing where she was going with this anymore. What the hell could she be talking about? The squire couldn’t figure it out… actually he didn’t really plan to either. That was her business not his. The only thing he could do was just stare at her blankly. Not saying a word in the process.
Seriously? She thought he stayed on Skyloft because of its so called security. What a joke. He had his reasons of staying here, but that was not one of them. How could he leave when he not once went to his twin brother’s grave? Or break that promise they made when the two of them were kids? There were many factors that kept Jacob in Skyloft. “What the hell are you talking about?!” he yelled. “I’m not staying here because of that! I have my reasons to stay here! Which of none you would not understand!”
Blue eyes only glared at Olive. She had no right to say such a thing. She didn’t know what hell he went through losing his brother the way he did.
Why did he even stay here talking with her? That was one question he couldn’t answer or understood himself. So he decided to just stand there silently. His silence didn’t last long this time around however.
Once he heard the word Hyrule, Jacob raised a brow, “Miss? Hyrule? What are you talking about?” He questioned. Just what on earth was she planning? Leaving? That's what she was doing out and about in the middle of night it only made sense now.

An exasperated sigh escaped the young graduates lips. This boy was doing a wonderful job at interpreting her, that was her fault though. "I did not say you stay here for security, I didn't say much at all really. I'm not good at talking to people, my apologies." Clearly the boy had heard her thoughts pass her lips. She sighed and turned around, palms up. "I do not belong here, I long to leave. Whenever I talk about these feelings inside my heart I am met with shock, and disbelief." She walked a bit closer to him, she hated talking across this distance.
"These feelings have been festering in my heart for too long.." She said. He said he had his own reasons to stay, yet he was so shut out. The boy kept hinting though, hinting as if he might talk. "If you care to talk about it I will lend you my ear about why you choose to stay here. I have perceivedyou to be unhappy with your current situation. If you are willing I may help in the short time I have left myself to remain in the sky." She shrugged, it was the boys choice. People talked or they didn't. She didn't necessarily care, but the kindness of her mother was embedded in her. She knew it was kind to listen, besides she talked to him. Although vague, it was something, even if he acted as though he was not listening.
"If you do not wish to talk, then I would like to leave please. Clearly you were headed somewhere else before you stumbled upon me." She said. The smile spread across her face was filled with warmth and understanding. Although Olive never noticed, it was the smile that made people like her so much.

Jacob continued to stand there silently with his hands stuffed in his pockets. He still kept his cold glare on Olive however. Okay… maybe he misunderstood her, but whatever. She DID admit that was her fault though that didn’t mean anything to him. That fact didn’t change anything. He did plan on not saying another thing until he wanted to, of course. This actually had to of been the longest conversation he had with anyone in the past week or so. And it wasn’t very enjoyable either. Then again it was his fault for starting to talk to her anyway.
Surprising enough no one had caught the two of them talking… well it was in the middle of the night. Who in their right mind would be out on such a cold autumn night such as this one? The squire already knew he wasn’t in the right mind, and apparently either was this girl. Now that he thought about it, they didn’t give each other their names. Sure, he had seen her around Skyloft, but never really got her name. Nor did he care.
Oh well, the blonde decided to stay quiet about his name until he was asked for it. That’s what he usually did, so why change now? Great. Now she was going on about how she didn’t belong here and whatever crap that came. He sighed. Man, he was starting to get annoyed with her so called sob story of hers. “If you want to leave so bad then do it already.” He replied back. “The surface isn’t so hard to get to. I’ve been there and back already.”
Probably not the best thing to tell her, but it was too late for that now. However, Jacob determined that it was best to keep quiet about why he went to the surface to begin with.
Once Olive came a little closer to him, the blonde took a step or two back to keep the personal space between them.
Now she wanted him to talk to her? She actually wanted to hear about his reasons why he was staying on Skyloft? That was a first. Everyone usually stayed away from him, so why wasn’t she? Yeah… that was not going to happen anyhow. Not in a million years. He had his reason to which why he locked every feeling, bad memory, and shut every person out. She wasn’t going to be the first to get in now.
“Like hell I’m going to tell you a damn thing.” He replied back rudely. “I have my reasons why I shut everyone out, so what makes you think I’ll tell you anything?”
He sighed once more. Maybe that was a bit too harsh. But she was poking that safe, secure spot he had for himself. ”Yes, I was headed somewhere else. Somewhere that’s actually really important to me.” He answered back. Yeah that stupid smile of hers was not going to work on him. He had a reputation to keep up and this girl was not going to break now. Not after how hard he worked to keep it going.

"Well then I apologies for interrupting your destination, although you did choose to talk to me." She turned her back again and yielded for Steel. As she waited she amused the idea of the surface. Shaking her head at his words, it was rather difficult to go to the surface. She did not believe one bit he had been there, her disbelief steamed from wondering why anyone would come back.
Steel landed gracefully and eyed the newcomer. He was unnerved by the anger he was emitting, telling Olive such. She shrugged, "It is what it is." Her hand found the birds nape and caressed. "I'm going to leave now. I hope you learn to be happy again." With that she mounted Steel, looking towards the boy for any last words, or hesitations. Olive knew she wasn't getting in, but her kind heart wanted so badly to alleviate some of his pain.
Jacob understood he was the one who spoke out first. That was a no brainer. He only wanted to know what the hell she was doing out in the middle of the night like him. He got his answer apparently. Not one he wanted to hear, of course. But that was beside the point. He had to go to his childhood secret hideout that he and his twin shared when they were kids. Though it was probably too late to get there now. His father should have noticed that his only son disappeared again. With that thought a sigh escaped him. Probably should go back home then. “I know what I did, idiot.” He replied back. “Anyway, it’s fine.”
Great. Now he was actually being somewhat nice to her. The blonde shook his head, erasing all of his unwanted thoughts. He silently watched her call for her loftwing. He could care less about the bird eyeing him. It was better than Tybal stealing his book and flying away with it. That loftwing of his was a troublemaker.
Pffffft. How can he ever be happy again? To him his life sucked so bad. He even regretted him being the once that got of there alive. That should have been his twin, not him. “Whatever.” The blonde commented. “Just don’t do anything stupid… I guess.”
For now, he continued to just stand there until Olive left. And once she did, he would head back home. Better to sneak in now before anyone was awake.

The young squire clearly had no more words to say, without a backwards glance she took flight. Steel was glad to be in the air, as was she. Making her way across the sky, mustering up the courage. Her heart rate was accelerated, an adrenaline rush. Breathe, relax.
