A boy stood, staring, at the exit to Kakariko village. He was 14 years old, short, and had short blue hair that seemed to wave in the breeze. On the top of his head rested his prized pair of smithing goggles, and on his back rested his sword, its black sheathe like midnight itself. Etched on the blue-haired boys face was a look of determination.
Today he would leave the village and strike out on his own, to live or die would be by his own choices. The boy, Kiru, let out a sigh of trepidation. Was he really going to step outside the only home he ever had? Was he going to truly leave behind all he had ever loved and known, for a life of adventure and battle?
These thoughts almost convinced him to turn around, to run to the back of the graveyard he had always loved, to tell himself that he would leave some other time, when he was ready. Kiru shook his head. No, this was the path he had chosen, to someday meet Tetsuno again, to someday find his place in the world. With that thought, Kiru stepped forward.

Vera walked down out of the gate to the mountain, nervously hoping no one would find it strange a Zora was wandering around. She had a mission for her father, and had to go speak with the Goron elder. Good thing that went well or she'd be in extreme low spirits and probably wouldn't be able to make it back to her river and hide back in her room at home. Slowly making her way to the exit she wished she had a hood of some sort to hide herself. Instead her eyes where focused on her small feet crushing the grass under her. Letting her bright blue hair hide herself.
The bad part of this, is that when looking at the ground you aren't paying attention to what you are doing. And thus, she ran into a boy, her head hitting him. Taking a second to posses that something had stopped her she jumped back, stepping on her hair and tripping backwards right onto her bottom. She looked at the boy, blushing fiercely, feeling like a dumbass.
"OhIamsosorry" He words were quite and pushed together, to the point where is was almost inaudible. She quickly got up again. "I'm real sorry" She apologized again, scared about being hated or something, but this time she was a lot more clear, and gulped a little, waiting for a punishment of some sort.
Kiru, mid-step and thinking heavily, did not even notice the cloaked zora bump into him, he turned around, heard her say "sorry!" then immediately fell onto his butt. His sword slipped off his back, clattering beside him, the sheathe a colorless void. Kiru grimaced at the pain in his backside. "Oww. That hurt.."
The blue haired boy looked at the girl who had knocked him over, realizing she was a Zora, and also, that she was quite beautiful. Kiru blushed and stood up quickly extending his gloved hand. "Let me help you up, Miss..?"
As he reached down the thought suddenly occured to him that zoras did not normally pass through Kakariko, and his eyes lit up with both curiosity and slight distrust. But he would help her anyway, who was he to refuse such a beautiful zora?
Vera looked at the hand that he offered her, hesitating a moment, before taking it with her own bright purple one she looked at the young human blushing more, allowing him to help her up. She brushed some dirt off herself. and looked at the boy, every single part of her instinct told her to run away, but she was well aware she wasn't aloud to do that. As a princess she had to be brave.
Vera took a deep breath and let it out before looking at the boy. "That you.." she spoke, trying to be polite. Could she leave? Would that be polite? She thought back to her lessons, but they weren't helping her out at all looking back at the ground for a moment, she wanted to hide behind her hair. She looked back up at the human boy and stepped back a little. Trying to think of something to add.
Kiru gladly helped the zora up, his hand grasping hers. Through the fingers in his gloves, he could feel from her hand how much different her skin was from his. It was smoother, and even her scales didn't seem to make a bump on her skin. It was as if her body was meant to flow, which considering her home, was probably not far from the truth.
As she stood, the blue-haired boy saw she was only a little taller than him. and heard her speak but didn't quite hear what she said. He assumed it was a thank you and replied kindly back. "You'r welcome. What's your name? Can I help you home?"
Asking to help her home had more than one meaning for the boy. One, was to actually make sure she got home, and two, was to make sure she didn't get up to any mischief in the town.

Vera looked at him for a moment, confused by his kind offer. Normally people would let her be and move on with their lives. She just wanted to get back home, alone but refusal would be rude wouldn't it? Refusal just wasn't something that she was supposed to do as a princess. She was supposed to be used to people helping her out. running her fingers through her hair, she thought about it for a moment before deciding that accepting him would be best. She looked suspicious enough he probably was just making sure she wasn't up to no good.
Vera looked at the boy and put a soft smile on her lips, trying to get the princess in her to show, to maybe stop looking as dumb as she did. "That would be appreciated..." Her voice was getting a little stronger, as she was trying to get more comfortable with a skill she had to learn to be a good ruler some day. So she took a second to calm herself then looked at the boy once more and began walking.
"This way." She commented, walking out of the gate, hoping to just get home soon. She continued walking out into Hyrule field, and turned around to wait for her young guard.
Kiru reached down, picking up his sword and swinging it over his shoulder, resting it comfortably on his back. He followed the zora girl out past the gates. He figured this would be a nice calm start to his adventure.
He did have to admit, it was very eerily calm. He could't hear any birds, and the wind was still. It felt like something was going to happen. But that didn't make any sense, all he was doing was escorting a normal zora girl to her home. What could go wrong with that?
As he reached the girl he smiled at her. "Ready to go?" And then when he thought about it he added, "Where are we going?". Her willingness to allow his escort and her politeness made him trust her more, and he was genuinely happy to be her guard.

Vera took a deep breath and let it out as the followed her out. She was a little nervous. She wasn't any good at talking to people and now she was going to have to have a long interaction with this boy. She took another deep breath, she could do this. She knew this would happen eventually and now she would have to do this. Taking her staff she looked both ways, and pointed towards the way to the domain. "Zora's domain, where I live." She commented, before heading that way. "You do know where it is wright?"
Vera had assumed he was a young traveler, still maybe there were places that he hadn't been. It'd be good for him to learn more about the Zora culture and she looked at her feet squish the grass under them and then back at the boy. "If not, it's.. real petty." Her words where audible, but she was still making awkward pronunciations every now and again out of fear, but she was hoping he wouldn't point it out. She knew she was dumb, but oh well.. this wouldn't last long hopefully.
Kiru smiled at the zora, inwardly cursing. he laughed, trying to make the humor sound real, "Of course I know how to get to Zoras Domain. What adventurer wouldn't?"
Kiru was embarrassed to think that, even though he had lived so close to Zoras Domain, he didn't actually know how to get there. Trying to hide his blush, he turned towards where the girl was pointing. "Since they know you, you should probably lead the way."
The moment Kiru turned towards the river, the young swordsmen knew something was wrong. A vivid remembrance of a training session with Tetsu came to him.
Kiru frowned as his tall friend wrapped a blind fold on the dark eyed boy. "Tetsu, What will this even accomplish?" Unbeknownst to Kiru, Tetsu smiled knowingly. "You have to train your sense to react to even the smallest danger, the very pinprick of evil! That is why you will wear this blindfold, while I try to hit you with this club." "Uhh Tetsu, I don't see how tha-" Everything after that was darkness. Probably because Tetsu had hit him over the head with a club.
Kiru rubbed his head almost painfully. At least it had paid off, the blue-haired swordsmen knew something was off. He smiled inwardly. It didn't matter, he had to protect this girl as he had promised, and that was all there was to it.
