Einnashe Zeil: Hyrule's Sentinel of Truth
|
The cool, tranquil reflection of the pure blue sky cast over her crimson red pools like a shroud. Compared to the bright world around her, her eyes were no different a color than that of the Hylians wandering around her. Yet the eyes that saw her perceived her differently. She was not just another Hylian. She was the Sheikah Einnashe. She was a Knight with a long history with this village. She was an adopted daughter of it. A child that watched over the village gates since the age of nine.
They knew her, and she them.
So when she'd first entered the village she was greeted with many familiar faces, most older than previously seen. She'd been showered with praise not alien to the ear, shown the children of old friends; unexpected new generations, and mentally drowned by great waves of nostalgia.
Such occurred to the point that she could barely remember why she'd come. Mixed emotions filled her. Happiness weld up, and yet her eyes pierced her adoptive home town's sky with a solemn, aloof stare. Being in this place had that affect...after the events five years ago.
At this moment a rather oddly fragile looking Einnashe Impa Zeil stood in plain clothes with this inexplicable zoned out expression in front of Kakriko's Pub. Adorned in a loose-fitting white top with minimalistic designs along it's lining and open collar, with tanned sheep's wool & skin shorts, just like any peasant off the street would wear. The only thing that probably kept her being mistaken as just some random girl was her distinctive appearance...yet perhaps even this could be appreciated.
Einna always felt so much more natural in clothes like these, than the outrageously fancy, heavy armor she'd often had to wear on duty. Perhaps it's show, and maybe her feelings would catch up with it.
Sasha walked into the small town. She honestly preferred the desert, but the town was kind of cute she supposed. Her long red hair was let loose an out and about. Normally she had it up due to the hot desert air, but it was a lot cooler here and she was able to let her hair down freely, as she preferred to do. Still, she was getting a lot of stares from citizens. Gerudo tended to be feared, as they should be, they where a powerful race. But today, she was here to help these people.
Well, to be quite honest Sasha was here to help Einnashe, her childhood friend and probably the only person Sasha has ever gotten along with. Einnashe was one of the few people could tolerate and she would forever stay by her side and be there for her when she needed it. So that's why Sasha walked through the stares with confident, and simple scooted past them all and headed towards the pub.
Sasha walked up to the front of the pub where Einnashe stood, seeming as though she was deep in thought. She was dressed down, and Sasha was a little surprised to see that considering she should probably be on duty technically, right? Sasha wouldn't judge though. "Good day Einnashe." She commented, glad to see her old friend again, not that she'd show any strong emotions. "It's good to see you again."
Zeek sat in the Kakariko village's pub with his right fist balled up and his left hand cupped over the right, pushing his lower lip against his right knuckle . The help that he was supposed to be receiving was supposed to arrive in the pup relatively soon. As the Mercenary sat there, his eyes starting at the table, he pondered just what in Hyrule was happening. During this little escapade to Kakariko he was hired because a lot of the kids were going missing. That job its self was no inherent problem conceptually speaking. Over the years he came to know a bit of the village so he knew what most of the kids looked like and they most likely got lost somewhere near by or something of another. But what happened that night when he seen kids walking out of their homes mesmerized and walking to the grave yard as a song echoed was a clear indication that there was something far bigger than a few missing kids. So he informed the village elder figuring the crusty old bastard could pull some strings and get some more help.
Zeek was trying to wrap his head around all the cause effect elements of that song. It effected kids but not adults and those who were under its spell wandered to the grave yard. The source of the song was probably somewhere in that area by normal logic and reason, but why couldn't he figure out where they were going after the grave yard. That point is what was troubling Zeek.
"Ah to hell with it..." He muttered. No sense in beating my self over it by my self. Raising from his seat Zeek made his way out of the pub for a bit of air hoping that it would set his mind back on track.
Stepping out side the light of the sun was overwhelming, as it always was for the first few seconds from after being inside. When his eyes properly adjusted Zeek noticed two out of place conversing individuals immediately. One was a taller black haired Gerudo but the other he couldn't accurately make out other than they were taller than he was and had white hair. It was more than likely that these two were apart of the back up. Strolling over, approaching from the left of the white haired individual. When he was approximately seven paces out Zeek announced his presence by asking: "Are you two here to help with the kids?" From where he was now he could tell the white haired one was female and a Sheikah if he wasn't mistaken. The black haired Gerudo he couldn't really tell, which could easily go awkward real quick if he messed that up.
Charis knew he was running late but Old Man Taryson hadn't been feeling well. What kind of healer would he become if he didn't help people in need? Thankfully Taryson was feeling better now, it had only been a bout of indigestion and the usual paranoia.
Inside the pub they were all supposed to meet at sat most of their group it looked like. A Gerudo woman and a human man were sitting with Einnashe. "I'm not too late am I?" He asked Einna. He was surprised to see her here already. Charis had assumed that the Sheikah woman would have spent some more time wandering the village, catching up with all of the people she had known during the time she spent living in the community.
Remembering was too hard anyway, at least for Charis. He was grateful that she rescued all those years ago but he had felt a little betrayed when she left for Hyrule Castle to become a knight. But desperate times called for desperate measures and Charis needed help. The entire village needed help with what was going on. So many children had disappeared and here he was training to be a healer, unable to track them further than the Graveyard. "Einnashe, are we ready to find the missing children yet?" He asked his former rescuer.
Ziil had never been here before, but so far it was alright. It was quiet, at least, and she liked quiet. It was funny – while she knew a little bit about Einna’s history with this place, she still couldn’t quite picture her here. Maybe it was just because she was so used to other settings. She supposed it didn’t really matter what she thought, though, given Einna’s already strong reaction to this humble little village. Ziil had decided to give her a moment and had gone off to look around while the knight got reacquainted with her memories. She knew that whenever she was feeling emotional, she didn’t really like people to bother her. Einna wasn’t the same as her, but Ziil guessed that maybe she could use a moment to herself all the same.
And while Einna was doing that, she could do a bit of exploring. She couldn’t go too far – not yet – but she’d be lying if she said she wasn’t completely enthralled by this case and thus very, very eager to comb this place for clues. Perhaps that sounded strange given the direness of the situation, but all of that aside, it really was fascinating. If there was one thing she loved, it was folklore. Eighty percent of the time, it was the most interesting thing about any group of people. The fact that this particular mission had to do with that - with something she'd read about in her books, no less - was enough to make the twili want to dig her teeth into it. She walked for a bit, making sure not to leave her friend’s line of sight entirely.
There were a number of Hylians up and around. Maybe it was rude of her not to take off her hood, but she wasn’t sure. If she didn’t have to, she didn’t want to for a number of different reasons, one of which was stares. She liked to tell herself that she didn’t care anymore. Nobody at the palace did. The people here probably wouldn’t either. Probably. She’d keep it on for now anyway. It was sort of cold out. Besides, she enjoyed the air of mystery that the cloak gave her. Without it Ziil was just a tiny little Twili thing with big orange eyes and flat hair. With it, she felt like a witch. It gave her more confidence than any magical trinket could. That, and if people were going to be scared of her she preferred it be because they saw two orange points of light peering up from underneath the hood and mistook her for some kind of ghost. She could at least understand that.
Ziil eventually turned around and headed back to rejoin Einna. That was enough exploring for now. She had a feeling that if she were to go missing for even five minutes, the Sheikah’s heart would stop. To be fair, though, she knew she’d probably be equally upset if Einna were to just up and wander off. Upon returning, she noticed that the knight wasn’t alone. There was someone else with her; a woman with red hair. Ziil thought she recognized her, but she couldn’t decide where or why. While she thought, she situated herself behind Einna, waving awkwardly at the stranger.
After her came more. She knew she probably should have said something - hello, at least - but did not. She simply stood there, listening. Her friend was incredibly popular. Did she know all of these people? Well, in that case, they were probably friendly, but sometimes Ziil really couldn't help but be shy...which was odd, given how decided un-shy she was after you actually got to know her.

Einnashe Zeil: Hyrule's Sentinel of Truth

"Good day Einnashe."
"Hm...?", Einnashe snapped out of her thoughtful gaze and slipped her attention toward the source of her greeting. When she saw it was Sasha she quickly replaced her solemn expression with a 'greeting smile' of sorts. With a careful glance she'd note the usual well kept red hair, this time being worn long instead of the usual; it looked nice. She imagined a lot of the attention following the woman wasn't exactly out of fear so much as appreciation for her appearance. It was nice to see that Sasha found herself so well adjusted---though perhaps it'd be problematic for this group to be standing out so...
"Ah, Sasha! You made it, wonderful.", she'd reply while taking a gentle note of Ziil taking her usual shy position behind her. Gently her left hand slipped back to gently rest on the young twili girl's shoulder to coax her a bit more to where everyone could see her. She imagined it'd be good to at least physically point out that she was with her.
"I see you're back from exploring, Ziil. Allow me to introduce you...this is the Archwitch Sasha of the Gerudo,", she'd explain to the twili casually," She'll be assisting us in this mission to find the children."
"Are you two here to help with the kids?"
Another voice came, though this time from a rather world experienced looking man, slightly shorter than herself. As he passed by her and Ziil to face the three of them she nodded to confirm is query. Her crimson orb scanned over his form to quickly take 'inventory' of the man before her. Naturally it didn't take long to confirm to herself that this man was likely the mercenary she was told about by Charis.
"Indeed we are...I apologize for not meeting you inside of the pub as planned, this village meant a lot to me in my childhood. So I suppose I was hindered by nostalgia. I again apologize for my lack of professionalism.", the Sheikah bowed her head and body just slightly as a knight would toward the mecenary. She imagined he probably wasn't too terribly bothered about her actions, but it was still the thing to do in this situation. It was not as if this situation wasn't particularly urgent.
"Hn...With this we will be able to begin planning our course of action as soon as..."
"Einnashe, are we ready to find the missing children yet?"
Einna's head lifted and she turned slightly to face a Hylain making his way quickly toward the establishment they all stood before. A casual smile crossed her lips and nod of gretting followed.
"There you are, Charis! Not at all, you've come just in time. Now that we're all here let's head inside and talk. I'd rather our business here be not so easily broadcast to unwanted ears.", She'd state before turning to go inside.
Sasha, smiled softly, she'd missed Einnashe a lot more then she had realized. Looking at the little girl she nodded to her, trying to keep a calm aura, an archwitch must always be calm and collected. As Einnashe introduced her, she nodded giving Ziil a smile even though anyone other then Einnashe made her uncomfortable. To be honest Sasha wasn't the type to like most people and hadn't had much opportunity for chatter or conversation, but the little one seemed close to her so she shall be nice. "I'm just apprentice as of right now, but nice to meet you little one." She nodded, and then looked over at the other new one.
This one was human, Sasha wasn't really sure she felt comfortable around other humans, but they weren't as bad as Hylians, and this one Einnashe defiantly didn't seem to know. She backed away a little and avoided eye contact. No, this one was not going to have her trust. She then heard another approaching, and was sure that was it, glad to finally have everyone here.
This one Einnashe was friends with, but he was Hylian and Sasha decided right then and there he was not to be trusted. Nope. Einnashe, and maybe the innocent child but no one else. She'd have to be sure to pull the weight of the others. Nodding, she followed Einnashe swiftly into the pub, happy to finally go inside.

"Don't worry about it." Zeek answered the Sheikah dismissive of her apology. The lack of professionalism she claimed fell on deaf ears. What others did didn't really matter, well in terms of arriving that was. He was working for the Village and if they showed up late that was their deal.
It would seem that Ezekial was the odd one out of this particular group. All the others seem to know the Sheikah one way or another. Ye the only one to truly get his attention was the small hooded figure that stood close to the Sheikah's side. It was quite strange to see a child hooded, at least that is what Zeek presumed. Curiously leaning back and to the side with the intention of seeing the child's face he took noticed to two clearly orange eyes and a entirely too dark skin complexion. This naturally took Zeek off guard. The child didn't look like anyone he had seen before, or any race for that matter. Thankfully the child's shy nature didn't trigger and danger senses on top of that she was with the help the village elder brought it so the kid couldn't of been that bad.
A human, Sheikah, Hylian, Gerudo, and one something or another. That was the current head count and was more so than odd given the diversity but Zeek wasn't in any position to make any gripes or comments.
With the Sheikah finally suggesting they go inside. Zeek was happy things were finally going to get underway. Making his way to the pup he hoped this would be wrapped up quick. The longer those kids were missing the harder it was going to be to find them, and Zeek wasn't fond of the idea of returning a corpse.

Ziil’s big orange eyes turned upward to look at Einnashe when she felt a hand on her shoulder. She did feel more confident with Einna there. In the past, when people had stared too long or said nasty things about her slightly unorthodox appearance, the woman had come to her aid. She doubted that she’d have that problem today, or that it would affect her in the same way as it had when she was a younger, but at the same time the reminder that she was with someone she trusted in this unfamiliar place did set her at ease a bit.
She straightened up and considered removing her hood for a moment, but thought better of it. Interacting like a normal person would be enough, she thought, to not disturb Einna’s companions. They were now her companions as well, weren’t they? Ziil was, after all, as much a member of this party as Einnashe. She had earned it. She was small, yes, and she used that to her advantage. As intimidating as she supposed that some people found her appearance, she was still a little girl, and the vast majority of little girls were not as skilled as she was, especially not in shadow magic.
Magic was the reason that she seemed so enthralled by the witch that Einna had introduced her to. Her eyes widened and she smiled lightly, bowing her head a bit before responding. Honestly, she wasn’t sure why. It felt somehow appropriate. “Y-Yeah, nice to meet you too.” She said quietly.
As Einna’s request, she then turned and followed the group of them into the pub. Suddenly it all felt that much more real. The giddy, childish side of Ziil was far too excited. This would be the first real quest for her. The first one, at least, where she was truly beside Einnashe and not behind her.

Laughter and chatter washed over them as they entered. The Kakariko Pub was a busy place today. Drinks were being passed about, and stories were being told. The warmth of the place was almost overwhelmingly nostalgic for her. Yet still Einna was able to keep her head this time around.
As she traveled through the sea of people she scanned over the various tables in hopes of a table near the back that was out of sight. When she finally found one she signaled to the others where she was going and moved to have a seat at it. When everyone else followed and was seated she'd begin the meeting while speaking just loud enough so that only people at her table could hear her.
"So...Before we begin talking about plans to rescue the children, I feel we need more information about what we're dealing with. We know where they went but we don't entirely know what we're getting into just yet. That said I'd like to chat with various people in the village.", Einnashe spoke thoughtfully.
Her eyes turned toward Zeek and she continued,"First, I'd like for Mr. Ezekial to explain to us what he saw in detail so that we'll have enough to draw questions from. Though before this...I want to again point out : We should be careful what kind of questions we ask. If we're too direct we might tip off the wrong people how much we know. As it is we're likely already being watched."
After speaking she looked around at the others curiously. She had to wonder if any of the others had any particular ideas of where, and how they should check about the village. In her pause of thought she nodded to herself and spoke up gently.
"Would anyone like to add to my words or propose any thoughts on the situation?"
Sasha stood and watched the others she really didn't enjoy this time. But she stood tall and firm. People made her uncomfortable and this for sure wasn't her finest moment. She looked around wondering if these guys were really to be trusted...? Whatever it was she wasn't going to let Einnashe do this alone. And she supposed the kid to, but honestly she doubted any of the others would be much help anyway.
As Einnashe asked the young man for more information Sasha couldn't help but get a little annoyed that they wouldn't just go and look at it themselves or something. This was the dull part, she already spent days and days reading and learning she wanted some action and to get away from these gross strangers. Still, for now she'd just stay quite and listen, as she had absolutely nothing to say.
